Based on the acquired technology, thyssenkrupp nucera is further developing a new generation of alkaline water electrolysis products with a pressurized stack. The stack architecture, cells, components, and interfaces are being continuously optimized in terms of performance, scalability, cost, and manufacturing. The aim is to develop a robust and scalable core module for future electrolysis plants.

The test facility in Skive enables long-term investigations under realistic operating conditions. The focus is on analyzing service life and degradation behavior, monitoring stack voltage and gas quality, and validating operational robustness. The findings provide an important basis for the further development of the technology and for substantiated performance commitments.

Werner Ponikwar

Chief Executive Officer, thyssenkrupp nucera

“With this acquisition, we are reinforcing our commitment to driving the green energy transition and deepening our technology leadership in hydrogen. The high-pressure electrolysis technology developed by Green Hydrogen Systems operates with high efficiency at up to 35 bar – a key advantage for industrial applications where hydrogen is typically required in compressed form. In many cases, this eliminates the need for additional compression. Furthermore, the test facility offers us an excellent opportunity to accelerate and intensify our own research and development activities in a highly practical environment.”
